The Sunday Currently | 05

It’s been a long time since I last blogged about my Sunday. And since I wanted my 2018 to be always updated with posts, I will make sure I have something to post every Sunday, preferably The Sunday Currently series.

Writing this post, I am seated in the back corner of a cafe. I decided to spend my Sunday afternoon here while working on some emails and watching Grey’s Anatomy. It is actually my first time to be here in Coreon Gate Cafe in Pasig. I usually visit their Makati branch. Their Pasig branch is bigger and nice.

Currently

Eating

Corned beef and fried egg meal for me. And a milkshake. I wanted Mang Inasal today because I am starving but I don’t think there is a near branch here. Better than nothing and an empty stomach.

Listening/Watching

I am watching Grey’s Anatomy 13. I have found this Chrome extension thingy where I can float my Chrome browser window where Netflix is open. Who’s multitasking? Me! I started watching GA from the start of the series since October 2017. I have mostly all my time since the last quarter of 2017. HAHA!

Smelling

Wood and things brand new. I think this cafe is already weeks older but I could still smell the wood varnished, and leather. There is a tiny smell of spicy ramen and coffee.

Feeling

I feel a little headache maybe because I was awake 28 hours since Friday and slept for more than 12 hours. Ugh!

Wishing

To travel to South Korea. I am still dreaming of making my first travel abroad come true. I failed last year and wasted my airplane tickets to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Wearing

Orange shirt, denim pants and white classic Fila shoes. And a pair of prescription eyeglasses.

Hoping

To make my finances work this month.

Planning

Since thinking of what to write seems hard, I am planning to write about blog series like Mix Tapes, listicles of different topics and small reviews of my casual consumption.

✨ Thank you, 2017! Hello, 2018! ✨

Hey you guys! I’m back after a long time of not able to blog about personal stuff. I’m doing fine if you guys are asking. Work has been pretty stressful lately not because of the heavy workload, but I’m kinda getting sick more than the usual. I think it is because I work at night, and I have been working at this kind of schedule for the last three years now or so.

Today marks another year to start in accomplishing our new set goals and to give thanks to everyone who has been part of our 2017. Here is a blog post to reflect my 2017. I am grateful for the past year because of new experiences and the people who have been a part of it. To others, my highlights aren’t that big, but this is just the right amount for me to say that my 2017 was awesome!

2017 Highlights 🌻

  • first time to ride on a plane and visit a beautiful beach ✈ 🏝
  • went to Baguio twice (1st, 2nd) ❄
  • my first MacBook Pro 💻
  • dated no one 💔
  • able to work and advertise with a few companies 💰
  • vlogging 🎥
  • spent NYE in a hotel 🎆

Always love fresh starts and clean slates. It’s never too late to become the best version of ourselves. Here’s the push we’ve been waiting for. If 2017 didn’t go as planned, let’s learn from it, and let it be our rebirth. Here are my new goals.

2018 Goals 📝

  • Be financially sound. Clear all debts, spend less & save at least 50k funds. 🔐
  • Gain weight. 🏊🏻‍♂️
  • Be aware, and improve my health. 🥦
  • Get a tattoo. 🐘
  • Blog at least once a week. ✒
  • Buy a camera. 📷
  • A vacation outside the country. 🛫
  • Accomplish my 2018 READING CHALLENGE. 📚
  • Learn new things. 🎹
  • Help others even in little ways. 👨‍❤️‍👨

I wish everyone a happy new year! Let this year be another chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more and to stop worrying. Love you all!

Photo Diary: Baguio

Friday, June 23

5 AM

We arrived Friday morning in the cold air of Baguio and went to our hotel to see if we can check-in earlier than schedule. Negative. Meaning we have to wait until 2 PM considering we arrived as early as 5 AM. We decided to leave our luggage in the hotel and started roaming around in the City of Pines.

8 AM: Laperal White House and Teachers Camp

It was my first time to visit some of the haunted places in Baguio. I used to pass through these two places but haven’t got the chance to see them up close. As early before lunch, my friends and I decided to visit Laperal White House and Teachers Camp. These places gave me chills, tbh.

11 AM: Cafe By The Ruins Dua

Before heading back to the hotel, we decided to have our lunch at Cafe by The Ruins. At first, I thought we’re heading to the original branch but we went to Dua in Upper Session Road instead. Well, I didn’t know they have two branches in Baguio; and the original branch was now closed due to the fire incident last April. Some said there had been a location permit issue that’s why they decided to close the original branch. Too bad because the original branch was nicer than the second one. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our lunch with these veggie rolls, pasta and bread & fries meals.

1 AM: Patch Cafe

After a long walk and lunch, we went back to the hotel and waited for roughly an hour. The hotel was fully booked that’s why we have to opt to check in at 2 PM. We stayed at Patch Cafe which is located in the lobby of the hotel. Good thing they have fast WiFi, and a matcha drink.

6 AM: Chocolate de Batirol

After resting for few hours, a good talk while munching on Bibingka, Suman sa Lihia and Traditional Blend was well-deserved for three millennial bakasyonistas. The weather was fine for a hot chocolate drink and the restaurant is so small and cozy. Good thing there weren’t a lot of people when we went here.

8PM: Bohemian food & cafe

Remember the cafe where Anthony and Mace had a talk about regrets, pain, the things they wish they did differently, and the things they’ve had no choice but to accept? #ThatThingCalledTadhana Yeah, we wen’t there, and had a small drink. The acoustic also played Tadhana by Up Dharma Down which made the night feel even more like the movie.

10 PM: Baguio Night Market & Session Road

If my memory serves me well, the night market starts at 9 PM. We were able to buy jackets for very cheap prices though mine needs some minor repair. We also brave walking along the very famous Session Road and took some photos.

Saturday, June 24

7 AM: Bloomfield Hotel & Patch Cafe
9 AM: Baguio Cathedral
10 AM: Mines View Park, good shepherd convent baguio botanical garden, wright park

We woke up early and had our Bloomfield Hotel free breakfast at Patch Cafe. Saturday was a busy day for the three of us because we wanted to visit and smashed a lot of places for the whole day. We went to the cathedral first then headed to Mines View Park; Good Shepherd Convent, to buy pasalubong; Botanical Garden and Wright Park for some photoshoot. Lol.

11 AM: Canto Bogchi Joint

I’ve been wanting to visit this restaurant after seeing a lot of beautiful Instagram posts about the place. Look how gorgeous its white painted walls and fence. Canto Bogchi Joint has good and affordable food as well. It’s a place for families, friends and lovers. My friends and I had lunch here and had a good serious talk about our life experiences. 👍 We went to Starbucks Cottage 661 Camp after this, unfortunately I wasn’t able to take decent photos. We continued our talk here, btw. I love this Starbucks branch so much. It isn’t big but it is a must visit, I tell you guys. 💕

7 PM: Wood Nymph Korean Restaurant

9 PM: Just Another Damn Good Sick Joint

10 PM: The Ampersand

Before partying, we went to a Korean restaurant to fill up our energy and stomach. We needed this because we’re sure the night was gonna be lit af. And it was. 👌

Sunday, June 25

7 AM: Patch Cafe

9 AM: Baguio Public Market

It was our last day in Baguio and we reserved the day to buy pasalubong. We went to the public market because pasalubongs are cheaper here. We had our complimentary breakfast first at Patch Cafe, and headed to the market afterwards.

12 NN: Patch Cafe

Still at Patch Cafe. LOL. We had our lunch and tried some other drinks they offer. We just killed time here until 2 PM. And went home.👋

Stop and Dine at Pit Stop Food Park

With a growing number of food parks showing up in Metro Manila and nearby cities and provinces, one in Quezon City officially relaunched last August 12 and hosted by an American journalist, James Deakin.

Pit Stop Food Park is the first themed food park in Quezon City that let customers experience the thrills of hi-speed motoring and unique food choices and is becoming a food hang-out for the people of Quezon City, Novaliches, Fairview, and Marikina.

With a total of 24 food stalls ranging from dim sum, nitrogen based desserts, appetizers, steaks, fruit juices and a lot more, surely will satisfy all hungry tummies who will visit the park.

The relaunch invited a number of bloggers and media to get to know all the food stalls while hanging out with each and everyone. Each attendee also gets to experience and taste all the food available in the food park, and participate in a small game organized by the staff.

In this blog post, I will share with you guys how the event went, my food favorites, and review of the food park. I will only be able to share some of the details that my brain can remember since my mind was occupied by the number of food that I can consume while I was at the food park. I am sorry.

Get ready for photos to load below.

This is me with my two workmates, Angel and Abi. We went to Quezon City after a work night.

How to Get There

Pit Stop Food Park is located at Congressional Avenue Extension, Tandang Sora, Quezon City 1108. To be honest guys, I don’t know how to get there by public transportation since we went there by private car. You may want to ask your north buddies on how to get here. However, I have found this on PSST! PH:

  1. There are jeepneys which ply the Congressional via Luzon Avenue and Munoz market.
  2. Electric jeepneys from SM North to Katipunan via Congressional Avenue.

Parking and Security

A parking space is available to customers who would like to dine in front of the food park and a lot beside it. I think the parking space can accommodate an estimated number of 20 regular cars.

What’s good about the food park is that they have their own security guard. So you guys will feel safe and worry-free from thieves while enjoying the company of your family and friends while inside the food park.

Food Choices

Pit Stop Food Park has a total of 24 unique food stalls that you can choose from: Native Grill, Sons of Burger, Nori, Kimu San, Jian’s Dimsum, Tapa Out, Masta Pasta, Qrazy Quesadilla, Wings, Pork Barrel, Halal Gals, Chef Resty’s Roast Beef, Stone Grill, Thirsty Heroes, Salted Egg, Ihaw Lamang Ang Iibigin, Brandon’s Steak Hub, Chinder, Unli Crabs, Buko Splashers, Cotton Candy, Fruit Locker, Nitro 7, Taclings, and Tokyo Tempura.

Food Favorites

 Taclings: Bite-Sized Tacos

Here are other mouth-watering food choices at Pit Stop Food Park.

Overall

I have tried a few food parks already but this one different because it’s themed. Food and quality is above average, and prices is somewhat okay to the norm. Parking and security is pretty much standard. However, the location is something I am not cool with. I didn’t see much public vehicles around the area, and it seemed like the area is accessible for private vehicles only. Idk. I will research more about it, and will update this blog.

Boys Can Do Eyebrows Too

Women have been growing their brows and following eyebrow trends for decades. They have been adjusting their eyebrows whether they want them to look pencil thin and perfectly arched, to thick and natural.

Now, it is not only women who are into eyebrow grooming. Eyebrow grooming in men is growing popularly recently, and the Philippines wouldn’t want to be out of trend. Martin Andrade, one of the male bloggers in the Philippines, has introduced me in grooming my eyebrows. Together with Astrud Celina, Benefit Cosmetics Philippines’ National Brow Artist/Brow Coach, Martin invited bloggers and non-bloggers to Get Your Brows Ready event in SM Megamall last April 26 (I know, I know, #latepost).

To be honest, I really haven’t touched my eyebrows ever until I had it waxed last March. My eyebrows were just there on my face the whole time untouched. Attending the event got me really nervous, and clueless of what’s gonna happen. But gladly, I attended. I was able to learn and understand how eyebrows work, how to take care of them, how to groom them, and what type of look should my eyebrows have to fit my face.

Astrud and Martin explained one of the bloggers' eyebrow condition and what to do with them.

It's me! With the audience. Listening. Clueless. Trying to understand EYEBROWS.

There were about only three guys in the event so I felt awkward at first and shy. And also, I was picked to do one of the ladies’ eyebrows. I tell you people reading this, I was shaking, sweaty. nervous and repeatedly saying sorry to Julia because it was my first time to actually hold and use eyebrows product and tools? and I have to use them on another person’s eyebrows.

 Hi Julia!

Hi Julia!

Known as getting your eyebrows ‘on fleek’, the trend on eyebrows doesn’t limit a person to just threading, but the recent years has introduced us to waxing, tweezing and using mini razors. I haven’t tried the other ways of doing eyebrows but waxing. I think waxing is good and fast, so I could say this is the most effective way for me.  How about you?

How do you groom your eyebrows?
